INTRODUCTION TO RADIOISOTOPE HANDLING

Handling and working near radionuclides requires specific knowledge and skills to ensure safety. The knowledge required depends on the actual activity and environment.

To ensure the safety of the worker, patient, and general public, as well as Homeland Security, a level of knowledge is required by State and/or Federal agencies.

The Radiosotope Handling Programs provided by INME (Institute for Nuclear Medical Education) provide the world’s largest, most experienced, and highest credentialed programs in Radiosotope Handling.

The Institute for Nuclear Medical Education (INME) has developed programs ranging from the 100 hour FUNDAMENTALS OF RADIOISOTOPE HANDLOING through the 200 hour EXTENDED COMPREHENSIVE.

INME additionally offers a 16 hour program for EXAM REVIEW and the 3 hour DOT HAZMAT program. Each of these programs are described in this catalog.


ABOUT THE CLASS

INSTRUCTION
The instruction in the programs is classroom style with an opportunity for demonstration, laboratory, and attendee participation.

SCHEDULING
The programs must be attended in order. The sequence for the INME programs is Fundamentals of Radioisotope handling first followed by the Comprehensive program.

LOCATION
The programs are offered nationwide. All programs are held at convenient hotels where participants may find a safe, varied, environment. see list

ATTENDANCE
The programs may be used for obtaining licensure by a State or Federal agency,
as well as used to meet organizational or societal requirements. INME documents attendence for all participants to assure compliance with all organizations.

MATERIALS
All materials required by the program are provided to the participants. The use of calculators is permitted, however, may be limited during some portions of the program.

DOCUMENTATION
All participants are provided with documentation of their attendance. Additional documentation is provided for appropriate credit hours as applied to formal or continuing education.

LICENSURE ASSISTANCE PROGRAM
Participants receive free assistance from our CONSULTATION STAFF to process amendments for inclusion on existing licenses. Full license applications may be filed by our staff to obtain NEW licenses at new locations for a nominal fee. Other assistance is available for equipment selection, acceptance testing, facility design, technical, and financial management.
